Mary wakes up next to the embers of the campfire, refreshed but dreading the final battle with the Spirits. She casts Ice Ward on herself in preparation. As she walks in the forest, heading for the place the Winter Spirit was summoned, she notices two wolves with extremely thick white fur. They don’t seem to have spotted her so she sneaks away, giving them a wide berth.

The longest night of the year unfurls its veil across the forest. The temperature starts falling lower. Yet in the distance, an ethereal glow starts to fill the horizon – not the warm glow of the sun, but eldritch green hues.
As Mary walks, searching for a place to rest, she sees a small campfire. The Crone of Winter, Enyesti Cirbesh, sits near it.

Mary finds herself back in the forest! As she reluctantly enters the shade of the trees, her eye catches a small movement. An ancient, fully awakened, pine tree, roughly 40ft away starts jumping towards her.

Mary produces fire in her palm and launches it at the tree, landing it in a perfect spot of dry leaves which ignite the tree. In retaliation the tree stomps closer and thwacks Mary with a flaming branch just before it collapses, the flames consuming it.
