Being open about my identity attracts some of the worst people. YouTube comments can be ugly, especially when discussing anything that does not pertain to cis white men.
Today, I dealt with a private message on Mastodon that forced me to learn the term "sealioning."
Wikipedia defines it as "a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence... while maintaining a pretense of civility... likened to a denial-of-service attack targeted at human beings."
It is bad faith exhaustion tactics. If you see it, do not engage.

Another type of troll I experienced today was the DARVO troll, which has a lot of overlap with Sea-Lioning. Darvo stands for: "Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender." While the point of sealioning is to drain your energy, what makes DARVO different is the goal is to flip the script to make you the bad guy for having a boundary.
When you set a boundary like "I do not want to debate this," continuing to reply is a form of trolling.
