Flamingosis, “I Don’t Really Care” from Pleasure Palette (2015)

Flamingosis is New Jersey's Aaron Velasquez, putting out music that though much of it is electronically generated, you’d swear is vintage 70s soul. Pleasure Palette is my favorite album of his, which will apparently cost you a kidney for a physical vinyl copy if you’re lucky enough to find one available for sale.

This track has a funk beat with shots of almost self-parodying electro just to make sure you’re paying attention. Maybe it’s the mental image I get of this being perfect on the Soul Train dance floor 🪩 but it sounds to me more Philly than Motown.
