From the back deck, in the rain.
January 5th, 2:16 p.m.
Even though we are in the middle of our rainy season, this was San Francisco's last decent rain. The weather app says we might see something on February 9th or 10th and I certainly hope so. We need it. I need it. This past month's relentlessly blue skies are driving me crazy.
Which reminds me... I've been thumbing my way through a truly terrible but frequently amusing book called Better Pictures Through Good Composition (first published in 1957). On the topic of skies, it says - and I quote -
"When the sky is dull and uninteresting, it is better to eliminate the sky entirely. This can be done by using a 4-ft step ladder or any slightly raised position which will allow you to shoot slightly downward."
Excellent advice. Fuck tripods. My next purchase will be a ladder.
