I am going to start a new #kdrama tier list on this account. Instead of trying to maintain a "Table of Contents" post that just grows and grows and gets messed up, I will just define the tiers here and reply to this toot with reviews behind spoilers that give the shows rank and title.

Tiers:
Special S-rank: See review to come
S-rank: Essentially perfect; high art
A-rank: Truly excellent
B-rank: Very good
C-rank: Fine
D-rank: Watchable but meh
E-rank: Not good enough to finish
F-rank: Trash

Finished #kdrama #WillThisLoveBeTranslated. Truly showed how well Go Youn-jung is growing as a star!

My fave was the fussy vaguely neurotic 2ML role by Kurosawa. His arc was maybe clearest to me?!

Kim Seon-ho will prob never convince me he’s comfortable as a romantic lead but I do love him in darker, crazed or comedic roles. This series allowed him to mix his strengths in.

IMHO Hong sister scripts are an acquired taste. I never quite get their core message. They are worlds onto themselves.

I have a deep appreciation of the talent it takes to make great #kdrama or #cdrama but it was cdrama that made me notice opening credits.

Like a good OST, it has to work with the script. But bring something distinct too.

Historicals often tell you the story by calligraphy, water colours or silk panels.

The opening of Blood River wove scenes & characters with a rare purely instrumental sound track.

I really like the mirrored city opening of The Mirage - fab intro to its unique world build.

Started #kdrama (a murder mystery time-slip) The Judge Returns on Viki.

Two reasons: Ji Sung & Park Hee Soon. Two of acting’s greats.

As in many of the scripts that Ji Sung picks, it is deeply strange & twisty and he gets to cackle & throw himself across rooms a lot.

Park gets to be utterly vilely villainous.

Truckload of popcorn ordered.
