Part of an email I sent to Met Éireann, the Irish state weather service:

I urge Met Éireann to stop using X (formerly Twitter), which is now a platform that both advocates Nazi ideology and generates (not just distributes) images of sexual abuse, including CSAM.

Alternatives such as Mastodon and Bluesky are increasingly popular, including among Irish people who have been steadily exiting X since Elon Musk took over in 2022. Please look into these options and cease posting on X as soon as practicable. Continuing to post there is now widely seen as tacitly supporting the site's vile politics, which I know is not the perception that Met Éireann would like people to have of it.

I understand the reluctance, especially for an organisation with a large following, to make such a change. But the way things now are on X – I'm sure you're aware of the recent horrific stories about Grok – make any reasons look like excuses, and poor ones at that.

Having left X three years ago, I look forward to following you on other social media platforms, hopefully soon. Thank you for your work.
