Today's small moment - I grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, so driving on snow-covered roads like this is very familiar to me. Here in Virginia, winter driving is a completely different experience. The Blue Ridge Parkway is typically closed during winter weather due to snow, ice, and cold temperatures.

But in early 2022, one of the gates was opened, and that stretch of the Parkway had been plowed and salted. With my all-wheel drive, I carefully made my way up using county roads that hadn’t been plowed yet.

It was exhilarating and instantly brought me back to winters in Michigan — the quiet beauty of fresh snow and the anticipation of reaching those scenic views.
