Yet another member of the board resigns over the banning of a Palestinian author. The response to the Adelaide Writers’ Week decision to ban the author Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah has seen a wave (over 100 writers) of withdrawals from the Festival, some members of the board and the Director of the Board Louise Adler in protest.
Continued assault on the arts by political entities (local and foreign) pressured by pro-Israel Lobby groups should clearly signal the increased danger that Fascism represents. Whichever colour you’d like to paint it, this is an example of wishing to please the ‘elephant’ in the room to the detriment of clear thinking people whose opinion fascists wish to muted/cancel/errase. This is not an Australia I wish to live in… struth, it’s not a world I wish to live in. I know the pain mum and dad and their parents suffered under Nazi Fascism and I don’t want my children or mysefl to live through that kind of hell, ever. We’re better than this.
