2025 was Hawai‘i’s second driest, warmest year on record

Hawai‘i experienced its second driest year in more than a century. The state saw persistently above-average temperatures throughout the year, according to the inaugural Hawai‘i Annual Climate Report for 2025.

Extreme drought emerged in parts of the Florida Panhandle this week amid growing precipitation deficits, very low streamflows and declining soil moisture in the Southeast. The region is also seeing increased fire danger.
