'One minute it was daylight, next it was black' — large outback dust storm rolls in

After more than a month without a single drop of rain, residents living in outback NSW saw a wall of red earth roll in. The large dust storm was well over 100 metres high and several kilometres wide.

Car thermometer was 54⁰C (129⁰F) after work. It has been what I call a, "many blinks" week. This is because the scorching desert air dries your eyeballs if you don't keep blinking. Summer in Broken Hill sometimes feels like the actual climate apocalypse.

Within an hour of posting that this dust storm rolled over Broken Hill. I ran out in my undies to take a snap, burnt my feet and then big fat cold drops of rain began to fall. I love a cold front.
