Taylor Rehmet is not a socialist (or at least, does not call himself one), but he is a trade unionist. And he trounced Leigh Wambsganss, a Trump-endorsed and certified MAGA candidate, in a Texas state senate district in Tarrant county, a traditionally very Republican county. If Rehmet can do it in Tarrant county, then there is *ample* opportunity for fruitful struggle in Texas, even at the state level --- which has traditionally been the gatekeeper blocking and overturning whatever progress gets made locally.

The current partisan breakdown in the chamber is 218 #Republicans to 213 #Democrats, following the resignation of Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene & the death of Rep Doug LaMalfa. Johnson will be able to lose only 1 Republican on any party-line vote once Menefee is sworn in.
