I need some help. So I am trying hard to research a particular topic concerning the Diocese of #Utrecht in the #Netherlands. However, there seems to be little digital files to work from. I am trying to determine the validity of a claim made by #OldCatholics in the United States about the beginnings of the autonomy and self-governance of Utrecht from Rome.
There are hints that it pre-dates 1145 CE, but it doesn’t appear that very many if any records from that time period exist in digital form. The question surrounds whether Utrecht ever elected and consecrated a Bishop without Papal approval. We know that in the 1700’s they did when Peter Codde was elected and consecrated. Statements from that time seem to point to a long standing belief by what would become “Old Catholics” that Utrecht had this authority dating back to the 1100’s.
I wasted a lot of time with various research engines that turned out to be Ai driven that ultimately made up information rather than presenting facts. That was a mess. So I am looking for someone willing to do some in the ground, old fashioned research to help me with this project.
Ideally, I need someone in Utrecht and someone in #Rome who can research on both ends.
Here is the sad part, I cannot afford to pay someone to do this work. I know, show stopper for most if not all people. It would really mean the world to me if someone would step up to help. If I am able to get any findings we discover published, your names would be included with mine as equal partners in the study.
I know, this is a huge ask! At least help by boosting this post. Maybe someone will have pity on this poor Franciscan Old Catholic Bishop and help me with this important project.
Thank you so much!
