#Texas Asks #SCOTUS to Clear Way for #Republican-Friendly Congressional Map

State officials are seeking to use a newly redrawn map for the 2026 #midterms, part of a nationwide #redistricting push by #Trump.

The court requested that the #CivilRights groups that had challenged the map respond to Texas’ request by Monday at 5PM.

#SCOTUS on Friday temporarily blocked a lower court ruling that found #Texas’ 2026 congressional #redistricting plan pushed by #Trump likely discriminates on the basis of #race.

The order signed by Justice #Alito will remain in place at least for the next few days while the court considers whether to allow the new map favorable to #Republicans to be used in the midterm #elections.
