Quite a bit tired today after yesterday's broadcast audio madness…
I had brought a digital mixing and mastering setup for live sound. In mid-air I noticed I didn't have my LUFS-I meter (x42 EBU R128) ready on my laptop, but there were enough other meters to drive me mad anyways. 🤪 Setup and sound check took about 5 hours with 4 tech guys.
The rumble of the subwoofers came through my noise canceling headphones, so it was partially an instrument flight on the low end. A bit of mission impossible…
(I didn't mix the interview in the break.)
So this was #Krautrock #Improvisers #MandalaMovie meeting #AlfredBast out of #FreiesRadioStuttgart, world wide in a #livestream. Live iPad painting by Alfred, video mixing / FX by #SvenGoldenbaum.

🧵 Yesterday I learned how much better the #headphone outputs by #RME are compared even to these in the #AllenHeath SQ5.
Also compared to the #MindPrint DI Port AD/DA converters I also own, the RME are much clearer. Not like having more high end, but being more precise in the high end (and over the entire frequency spectrum, I guess).
But since I needed to zap through sources quickly, I had to use the #AllenHeathSQ headphone jack… still I'd like to route that port digitally into something RME next time and to my headphones from there.
Unfortunately, even the old RME ADI-2 AD/DA have become rare, and the not so old models are ridiculously expensive on the used market.
I had fed the analog FM radio #broadcast system from the only RME converters I had available, while the livestream was fed 100% digital via an SDI audio inserter into #Blackmagic gear.
This is how it turned out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfwH93FNGF8
