The question itself is silly, and represents a complete misunderstanding of the way that John Brown saw the world.

Suppose that modern day US special forces go to rescue a white woman aid worker that has been kidnapped by a drug cartel. Half of her kidnappers think that she should be assaulted and then killed. The other half feel that assault is beneath them, and that she should just be killed without assaulting her first.

If I ask you "Which group do you think the US special forces will vote for?"

You might say, "Um... those special forces soldiers are not jumping out of that helicopter to vote for either group. The question is silly, and represents a complete misunderstanding of the way that those US special forces soldiers see the world."

John Brown saw Black people the same way that many white Americans are only capable of seeing themselves: as humans that deserve freedom from rape, murder, torture, and enslavement. He found the discussions of how much rape should be allowed, and where the murder and enslavement should be allowed, fundamentally immoral and cowardly.
