After 40 years of hits, inspirational moments, and creating a name in #HipHop so legendary, no other female duo/trio has been able to duplicate… Salt ‘n Pepa find they are set to lose all rights to their early #MasterRecordings.

Also, because they chose to fight UMG on the status of their #music (and are probably set to lose), UMG is responding by REMOVING THEIR FIRST ALBUM OFF ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS.

The #MusicIndusty | #MusicAdministration kids are going NUTS.

Salt-N-Pepa's music catalog lawsuit got a response from UMG, which said the duo doesn't qualify for termination rights over their master recordings.

I’ve been blessed enough to help legendary #LegacyActs retain or regain access to their #masters after rights to terminate come up. Most are able to retrieve without issue. Nevertheless, because #SaltNPepa were 17 year old kids who didn’t know they were signing off their music as “Work For Hire”…. this might not be fixable.

To EVERYONE. You too, #tech geeks, especially the app developers. Please review EVERYTHING YOU’VE EVER SIGNED. Please check your ownership rights OFTEN. Protect yourself.

Also, if you were ever a fan of Salt ‘N Pepa’s #music… you’d better go out and buy a physical copy of their albums NOW, because if it doesn’t go right, you will not be able to play their music via streaming at ALL. They are already moving to take their music out of all commercial use licenses… movie and tv placements, TV and radio commercials… everywhere you’ve ever heard a SHOOP or PUSH IT… won’t be there anymore.

Physical copies are STILL IMPORTANT.

#SaltNPepa have set up a #BandCamp where they have set up the re-recorded versions of all their hits, and you can buy the MP3s or a beautiful splattered limited edition vinyl of their earlier songs.

If you are a fan, and can send them the support, I need you to go and buy their formats of music before Bandcamp takes it down.
