@fkamiah17 worth mentioning
Those men aren't from the London Met, they're City of London Police, an actual police force owned and controlled by the corporations and companies which operate in the City.
Couldn't get more dystopian if you tried.
@fkamiah17 Man she's badass
@licho She is. She could sit back and go to dumb conferences in Aspen like Malala, but she puts her body on the line every time.
That's why the establishment hate her.
@fkamiah17 @licho
I've been extremely impressed with Greta. Like you said, it would be easy to coast on the international recognition she's already achieved, but she continues to get out where the action is happening and make her fame work for the cause effectively.
And to me, what really speaks to her character is how consistent her moral position is. The kind of public attention she got so young can really warp someone's priorities and spin them out into some really strange and troubling directions.
I don't agree with contrasting Greta and Malala, though. Whatever Malala wants to do with her life now, she's a hero who has already effected more positive change in the world than I ever will.
@jargoggles @licho I wasn't attacking Malala. It's a very valid comparison: they're of a similar age and public profile, both catapulted into international recognition at a very young age, and Malala's choice to continue whatever work it is she's doing by sharing stages with Michelle Obama and George Clooney is a perfect contrast to Greta's method of standing by her principles.
@fkamiah17 Malala have already taken a bullet. Personally can't blame her for not wanting to risk another one. I imagine you're traumatized after such an event.
@fkamiah17 I still don't understand why that sign is illegal.
This is a bonfire demo instance for testing purposes
