@neil Our kitchen operates a fairly well choreographed combined effort, with the various festive dishes throughout the season defacto assigned to individuals.
Shared responsibility and kinda just works with people contributing at different stages and to different things.
Cookery is a big thing in our house, and it's taken many years of practice, but I think we've got it down to a fine art now 👍
But whatever works best for people. Unwanted external interference is generally an irritation.

@neil one of the foundational pillars of our marriage is “one person does the cooking, while the other shuts up, gets out of the way and helps when asked”, with roles assigned as needed
@neil we even have a little magic formula to more or less gently remind the other person when they overstep the demarcation line: “mein backe backe Kuchen”, loosely “my bakey bakey cakey” - the sort of thing one 3yo might say to
another while playing in the sandbox.
@neil which coincides with “Quick, run down to the supermarket and get me …” day.
