Good, old friends
@stefano
Where is Stevens' TCP/IP Ilustrated ? :)
@stefano I still have my K&R around **somewhere**
@stefano Got it, got it, got it, got it ... still have them 😀
@stefano My memories are of reading the K&R C programming book and thinking "Anything is possible." .. but instead of becoming a programmer, I switched to being a sysadmin. 😂
@pertho same here! I studied that book and decided that it was so powerful, so great! So I decided to specialize in running someone else's software 😂
I met Dennis Ritchie at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, New Jersey, when I worked there, and told him that I thought the recursion "Easter Egg" was brilliant. He said that few people know about it...
@juglugs wow! interesting!
@stefano indeed. I learned C using K&R's book and I maintain it is still a viable way to learn it to this day. Even back then I was blown away that everything you needed to know about a well-designed programming language would fit into such few pages.
@stefano Steven’s books are still very important - yes, I sometimes write pure C code using sockets and (wrapped) syscalls.

I remember those too, good times!
There's just a missing K&R 😉
