This particular type of situation was why I was bullish on the concept of Bitcoin early on. We were told that it would be a way to send money to the unbanked. Then of course, it went the way of all thing money.

i had a bank account shut down once for a queer play party i ran. PayPal and Stripe are both awful for this- in the end we switched to a high risk payment processor but that's overkill for a tip jar on a vanilla profile...

You might consider reaching out to the journalist who made that podcast and see if they want to do a follow up article about what happened to you.

I fear the political pressure payment systems have been getting by the far right fascists/Christian nationalists to cut payments to content they consider "inappropriate" is getting worse and further marginalising, eventually pretty much, everyone.

I know PayPal has a whole department dedicated to extended deep dives on people specifically to do this. I believe the payment processor for BuyMeACoffee is Stripe, which is also puritanical but didn't think they were as aggressive about a loose connection. My guess is someone filed a report, but it's not any less frustrating.

Unfortunately it's a common problem for many adult content creators. CashApp has typically been the best bet, but far from great. And sometime recently started forcing folks to display their government name (and specifically the last name) instead of a display name. Also, you'd need to keep mention of any adult content to zero because they do still shut down accounts and forfeit funds for sex workers.

Crypto is naturally a backup option but far less stable or accessible.

Throne is not explicitly SW friendly, but is very commonly used similar to CashApp. Generally as long as nobody is explicitly linking or mentioning sexual content in the notes, and you're not advertising that on the listing, it's probably fine. It's technically a wishlisting site where people can buy stuff for you. Unsurprisingly, I keep mine full of rope. If something isn't available on their storefront, you can have a "cash gift" that is meant to correspond to a physical product that you can then _theoretically_ buy yourself. It does take extra time though.

YouPay (me) is one that I've heard is a good option from my SW friends. Some of them also use MintPay and MassPay but I have no first hand experience with these three.

Failing all of the above, fansly and manyvids allow tips. I think they keep a hefty portion though.

There is also a list of problematic "tippers" that are constantly doing chargebacks or maliciously reporting accounts as much as possible.

All of this is still so silly because you don't even make adult content tied to your tips. And even if you did, it should be okay and not something that locks one out of the banking system. I have plenty of experience getting my accounts terminated in roundabout ways, so I can rant for days about it.

I'll be looking for another way to accept tips (as it's kinda my lifeline); if you have any suggestions that *don't* involve platforms that'll ban me for posting some wholesome-ish adult content *on my own social media profile*, I'd live to hear them.
