imo you can only want an algo here if you fail to understand the civic value of this place. decentralized social media fixes the problem of mass media by letting us collectively determine what's worth our attention. #DemocracyOfReach
without that conception of the potential of this medium, it becomes but an entertaining technological accident. a toy or recreational drug. do whatever you want with it. let them fuck with our brains. see what happens. why not. #SocialWeb
@wjmaggos I love the idea, unfortunately my brain isn't used to it. My brain is still using to social media as a doom scrolling device. I wish it wasn't the case.
I also wish that the fediverse was more widely used. When I meet new people they r almost never on mastodon, which is a shame because the negative effects of the algo farming social are widely acknowledged, but it doesn't slow down their adoption by nearly everyone. mastodon has a advertising problem I think
