@EUCommission The concept of one charger standard for consumer electronics is extremely pro-consumer and demonstrates how EU-level regulations can work to the benefit of Europeans. Recently I forgot my laptop charger when leaving the house for several days, but I took the phone charger. This saved me money because I did not have to emergency-buy a charger (no way to borrow). Sure it took a night long to charge a macbook over a 30W charger but it worked fine.

Meanwhile, Nintendo has developed the Switch 2 only until it runs perfectly on _their_ hardware dock, not caring about compatibility to other docks, leading to issues when connecting a third party dock with an USB-C to the console.

@EUCommission when is the target to phase out USB not C and to standardise the cables?
@EUCommission except ... its impossible to tell what charger & cable has what power capabilities. So yes progress, but ... not progress. A small but valuable addition would be to require power ratings on all devices, and use a color coded style like we use for resistors, maybe with a braille style physical coding for low vision folks.

@EUCommission good idea but I have all sizes of USB plus lightning, loads of adaptors and cables with different USBs either end plus loads of chargers of which only one has USB C.

This post is confusing.
@EUCommission Audio industry needs an option for something with low ripple, simplified negotiation (there's still no sufficiently affordable, easy-to-implement, reliable solution to this! PD micros cost more than the rest of my BoM combined!) and better physical robustness. It can replace the barrel jack with some of these features but it's not there yet.
@EUCommission The problem is OEMs produces various USB-C that don't deliver what users expect.
Remember that moment when the USB C cable you ordered could not transfer data? Or it transferred data, but only in USB 2.0 speed? Or it charges, but not fast charging? Etc.
We need regulation that make sure users can walk into the shop and buy any USB C and can expect it works as expected.

I had to buy USB-A hub because new laptop has only one port and i still have camera, mic, rpi, sound d/a with 'old' port.

@EUCommission Please broaden the application of USB-C charging. For example, it’s a complete mess with pedelec chargers right now, and with USB-PD at 240 W, there’s really no excuse for bulky proprietary expensive chargers you have to carry in your saddle bags.

@EUCommission We already have dozens different USB-C cables, different charging voltages and currents, so while everything is USB-C, it only looks the same.
@EUCommission It's a great move ngl, but you should have also defined a standard implementation of it, it's not great when Apple or Nintendo both have USB-C but they work differently
