Q1. Where are you posting from today? It's a holiday #BikeNite, the last of the year, so it might be a little lighter. Are you somewhere different than usual? How are you doing?
@ascentale @bikenite A1 - Boxing Day yesterday and we were with family. After hosting for two days it was nice to be hosted! #bikenite
On the train from Bristol to London - heading back home from family Christmas celebrations.
@ascentale @bikenite A1. Back home in a city near Frankfurt, Germany. I met our children near Cologne for christmas. Got there by train.
A1 Same, same. Home in Rome, doing just fine. We had some very rainy weather leading up to the festivities but skies are bright blue now and it isn't too cold, so with luck I will go for a good ride tomorrow.

@ascentale @bikenite A1. Santa Clara, CA as usual. Up late baking cookies for a holiday party tomorrow. After cooking for hours Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. All good, no vet er visits like over thanksgiving!
I was able to get a pair of rides earlier in the week as the threatened rain, mostly passed us by. So I’m good!

@ascentale A1. Home on a snowy #BikeNite in New England, today, just the usual. How am I doing? Feeling a bit peckish, to be honest. I didn't eat more than a chicken salad sandwich, and feel asleep early, only to wake up in the middle of the wee hours, but I can't be bothered to unwrap the Christmas ham.

It's half past five in the morning. I'm in bed wide awake as my beloved serenades me like a choir of angels. It could be mistaken for the sound of a donkey being chainsawed in half though.
Although my location is still the same as normal, we've a couple of guests staying over. All is good, except going to make coffee in a few hours will require putting on more clothes than normal.
#BikeNite A1. Ventura County, California. Slogging through the holidays and family obligations. Not too bad this year, but... spending time with people (even family... or particularly family?) isn't the highest thing on anyone's list, lol. A little bit, in moderation is great. Maybe I'm just a wee bit anti-social. 🤪
@ascentale @bikenite #bikenite A1 posting from home in Carbon County Montana. We have our kids visiting this week so I’m spending all my time hanging out with them. It’s been scary warm and dry lately and what little snow we did have is gone. Hopefully we’ll get some more seasonable winter weather soon.
A1. Cleaning house in Tokyo, in preparation for the New Year's party, which is going to be a small one this year.

@ascentale @bikenite A1: Nagoya, Japan, as always. Two years ago, I rode to an open-access public campground (at 笹戸, at the eastern edge of Toyota City limits) on New Year's Eve. I flaked out on it last year, but I'm now steeling my resolve. This time, though, I'll take a more direct route, and avoid getting lost in the hills between here and there.

@ascentale @bikenite A1. Toots from Atlanta as usual. Things were a little rough with having to pick up more slack, but taking off work and (as usual) communicating with the people you live with has made things better. Got a final "ride" to the grocery store in this week which was nice.
A1: Same old, same old, at home after work in the Boston area, warming up after a commute that was long and cold enough to cause ice to form in my water bottle!

@ascentale @bikenite A1 - In Hamburg, Germany, at my mum's. I'm back from a family visit in Lübeck.
Outside, the roads and pavements just froze over, and the 20m from the cars to the front door were difficult.
I had to take my shoes off, actually, and do it on socks.
Happy to report that my pretty new winter tyres had no issues whatsoever, while my sister in my mum's car wasn't able to park properly.
A1. I'm posting from Scottsdale, AZ this week. I came here to resupply for camping and shelter from the rain.
I'm doing well, but I hate the city. Looking forward to getting back out in the desert.
@bikenite A1. I am in Southeastern Pennsylvania today, and am glad to be spending time with family. It’s been good to see family and be on vacation, as I was going a little crazy in the last few weeks. It’s strange to see reminders of the passage of time and sometimes surprising to see what hasn’t changed and to think about how that compares with my memory.
I was able to take a short ride on a bike in the garage. I had fixed it up a bit each year to make it slightly more rideable, and luckily all it needed was some air in the tires.
@ascentale @bikenite On the mid north coast of New South Wales. Cold and rainy here so I went for a ride in sunny Sri Lanka on my trainer, instead.
@ascentale @bikenite A1: sitting comfortably at home in the Hudson Valley as snow pours down. The forecast says 5-10” by midday tomorrow, so not much happening around here.
Kinda wishing I had a fattire bike to experiment with riding in the snow (before it gets icy from traffic)
We have more snow in this part of the country than some of the ski resorts out west.

I'm posting from home in Rochester Minnesota after visiting family out of town.
I am on the mend after a non-COVID upper respiratory ailment and hope to be back on a bike tomorrow after not riding for a week.

@ascentale @bikenite Answering from my usual place in near-Atlanta, GA. I don't really celebrate Christmas, which is good since I had to work the day before and today. It's been *very* slow in the bike shop, so I've been bored at work, but today at least I had a fun single-speed-that-should-not-be-a-single-speed (a fancy Cervelo Caledonia 5) to work on! Everything about this bike is kind of irritating, but it's such a cool weird build that I always have a good time with it anyways.
@ascentale @bikenite A1. In a different place from last December, but not in a different place than last week. Tirana, Albania.
I don't have the holiday blues per se, but I have been having some deep philosophical quandaries. But I'm dry and warm, and enjoying mostly moments of calm so I feel fortunate.

I am about to go down to my mini-workshop to do some sanding, but it's not bike related and I've participated from there before, so that's not new either. xD
