Is Obsidian still locking their sync option to either their server or self-host?
Never mind, seems like there is a synthing option that works on windows, linux, and android.
Maybe it is time for me to give it another try.
@ada Yeah i sync it that way without any problems though have had to move to syncthing-fork on my android phone as development has ceased.
@emsquared I saw that on Obsidian website too:
https://help.obsidian.md/sync-notes#Syncthing
Can I assume that article is up-to-date?
@ada Looks that way to me (disclaimer: i know nothing)
@emsquared Maybe a very peculiar question...
E2EE works on remote vault, that's clearly stated.
But with synthing they are not syncing with plaintext are they?
@emsquared Okay it looks like synthing (the original not the fork) uses TLS and device authentication... in theory the intrusion points will only be the end-user devices.
@ada by default it would. I keep my notes encrypted and use the remotely save plugin in addition.
@emsquared What does the remotely save plugin do?
@ada just handles end to end encryption really.
@emsquared Are you using direct sync or cloud based ones?
@emsquared Knows more than me for sure!
