@futurebird we had to go to our local Credit Union yesterday. We went into the branch, and I expressed surprise that there was a cat in the manager’s office. It took a few seconds to realize that it was a lego cat like yours. Very cool. 🐈‍⬛

@futurebird I expect you'll hear Lego smashing to the floor in the not too distant future and Pica will have no idea what happened.

@futurebird The previous owner of my current house left a few things behind and among them one thing was a "Furreals" cat. I brought it out thinking my own cats would freak out.

They barely even looked at it. I mean, this was before they were close enough to even get a good look at it or smell it or anything. Even at a distance they could instantly tell it was fake.

That was just no fun at all!

I still wonder why they were so sure so fast. I think cat vision is not super great even at an optimal distance (like not horrible or anything, but not good enough to tell that the "fur" wasn't real fur or that the eyes were wrong or etc I think?)

It might be easier to tell with a Lego cat though. 😆

@futurebird Maybe Pica is disappointed that Lego Cat isn't a tabby cat like Pica.

She was fine with it … until I petted it. *That* made her mad (tail puffed up ... ) so I stopped because she has enough drama in her life without simple humans making it worse.

There is some lesson about LLMs in the fact that my cat didn't care about the plastic cat until I *treated* it like it was a cat.

Then she wanted to get involved.

@futurebird This could be an opportunity to experiment with ear positioning and what message Pica receives from different options.

@futurebird@sauropods.win you should have dismantled it after you petted it to show that it is perfectly harmless
