Recently I am not lucky - finally found a good place for a Meshtastic solar node.

Easy and quick install using zip ties, test message was okay. Set the GPS position and then left.

Stupid me! It seems the node crashed while setting the position. Now I have to come back but it got dark already..

Either I have to wait until Wednesday (don't have to work) or use the moonlight and maybe a flashlight.

Really, I won't be able to sleep knowing it does not work.

#Meshtastic

Photo of a Meshtastic solar node with a 5W solar panel and a 40cm antenna in a gray PVC tube. It is attached to a wooded beam which is build around that tree to hold it. The sky is gray and in the background there are some fields.

@finn Looks like a public place to me. How do you make sure nobody will steal it? Because that’s why I hesitated to install my own repeaters…

@bricks You are right, I think it will be gone some day.

But probably not stolen - someone who works for that village will take it because it doesn't belong there. Maybe..?

@finn It‘s a nice case and the antenna seems decent. Any details on it? I‘m still looking.

@nblr Here is another picture:

M4 screws and heat inserts needed and maybe TPU or a bunch of rubber seals with a total height of 10mm.

@nblr The antenna is like this one but with an N-connector instead of SMA.

Case (115x90x55mm) and panel (5W) are those:

I didn't put it on Printables yet but I can send you the FreeCAD or STL file if you want.
