@wdlindsy Yeah, my grandma was an evangelical and that probably predisposed me to think of them as people with toxic but sincerely-held beliefs, people who did real harm but who did it in service to sincere and deeply-held values.

So it's been a bit of an adjustment for me, too, to see that nah, they don't have any core values except supremacy. Or at least 77% of them don't.

I was raised in the Christian church, and from a young age, I was taught that whites were inherently superior to Blacks, that men were inherently superior to women, that "Christians" were inherently superior to everyone else. That "others" were inherently evil.

None of this matched what Jesus taught in the four gospels.

When I was a senior in high school, I left the church. I couldn't stand the hate and hypocrisy.
