Of the top 25 cities on U-Haul's 2025 study, BC has 7 spots even though it comes 2nd to Alberta overall. Alberta has 4 cities in the top 25. (Calgary is #1 Edmonton #5)

I would say this may be a proxy measure for population inflow.
The proxy does not measure the thing you want to know; it is always wrong to some degree or in some manner. In this case, it measures where the cost to pay a one-way use of a tool is lower than the cost to return it to originating source. We do not know why: may be who is being recruited where, or possibly their anticipated increase in disposable income.
NB: palliative care and slaughterhouses have high inflows, too.
