Is it a good idea to host a major event like the FIFA World Cup in a country whose secret state police hunt down innocent people, lock them in cages, or execute them in the street?

@Strandjunker - and also, lest we forget, has a serious hate boner for anyone foreign & also-also, FIFA is on their knees to the fascist dictator & have already proved that they'll do anything to curry favor with him, including not standing up for the teams & almost certainly try to rig the results so the racists won't have to watch brown people beat white people at anything; US Nazis don't want their own Jesse Owens humiliation...
I hear your point here but uhhhhhhh
You do know the last World Cup was in Qatar, right?
@RVLara23 @Strandjunker I didn’t see anybody say that the Qatar World Cup was a good idea either.
My points being
1) FIFA certainly doesn't give a shit
And maybe even more importantly
2) Does anyone really expect the World Cup to be rescheduled and moved? Away from the United States of all places?
Keep dreaming.
We should probably focus on.... you know..... goals that are actually attainable.
Pun intended.
@RVLara23 @adriano @Strandjunker I don’t think anyone expects FIFA to relocate the World Cup considering their corrupt nature.
But it’s not just ”dreaming” to highlight this issue since the games normally have an audience.
Its not unlikely that people from around the world will boycott traveling to the US World Cup out of fear or out of principle.
If they watch via TV or streaming instead, showing half-empty stadiums will be an embarrassment.
@hastar @adriano@lile.cl @Strandjunker
You are truly in Fantasyland if you think the World Cup is going to have half empty stadiums, sweet Jesus.
Do you have any idea how popular soccer is globally?
Did everyone drink idiot juice today?
@RVLara23 @Strandjunker Look, you’re being an asshole if you can’t have a discussion about this without getting emotional and resort to name calling.
Football is primarily popular in South America, Africa and Europe. Do you think the US is high in the list of countries we want to visit now?
