great work but I already love using @wallabag for this.
and they use an approach everybody should today: make a FOSS app that is available on the web and mobile, but also let us use their backend or our own. funding comes from enough people using theirs. but we can always leave.
the next step imo is to incorporate the fedi. show most popular in our social graph and add articles via bookmarking. let us boost and favorite from the app.
@kevin I had a serious heartattack reading that!! Omg. 😂 Do you KNOW how many domains I have to try and save every year!! Omg.
@kevin but can it fold my laundry? #featurerequest
@kevin Why not contribute to existing, established projects written by humans instead, like Readeck or Wallabag?
I guess as long as it's an experiment there's not much harm done, but there are applications out there struggling to find or keep contributors.
@kevin Thank you so much! I heard you about this on the podcast and I was so jealous! This is great stuff.
Hey! Don't start charging once you have cornered the market!
It's a joy to listen to you, keep up the good work!
@kevin I get the sense you'd like this idea:
Put stash on Github.
Share the link.
See where your engineer audience takes the idea, choose the pull requests that appeal to you most, and give a shout out to is on Hard Fork.
@kevin your next project should be "The Don".
A clone of Twitter's `@grok` feature ~ but a bit less spicy.
@kevin the bookmarklet looks especially production-ready:
const CONFIG = {
// Replace with your Supabase Edge Function URL
FUNCTION_URL: 'https://YOUR_PROJECT_ID.supabase.co/functions/v1/save-page',
// Replace with your user ID
USER_ID: 'YOUR_USER_ID',
};
@kevin there is another self hosted app called Stash that might make you want to change the name of your app. [stashapp.cc](https://www.stashapp.cc)
@kevin - Sounds great! I miss Pocket too :(
I would love to see a couple screenshots on the website, just to get an idea of how I might be interacting with it.
I would try and see if I can install it on my home server that runs docker containers. (Needed LLMs as a crutch to get it going - so I'm unsure if that plan would even work...)
@kevin pocket was so good for so long
@rcolinkennedy it truly was a perfect piece of software
@kevin Very nice! is that completely vibe coded?
@kevin It's krazy that we're at this point where I can't even selectively copy/paste text from the internet. Digging that this is one of your features.
@kevin very cool! Your episode got me motivated to redo my websites and you guys saved me $200 a year in webhosting costs!! Thank you for the inspiration
@kevin would love to hear more about process and publishing this. I just starting using Claude Code last week but see a ton of potential for small open source software like this.
@kevin Awesome. I'll check it out. I used to love Pocket before it died.
@kevin The fact that you made something this polished and feature-rich in such a short time with vibecoding is kind of crazy.
@kevin I really miss Pocket, and still don't understand why it was killed by Mozilla. I also loved their newsletter, and the snippets in my new tab. Ugh! I know I had 3000 unread articles starting from the 2010's, but that's not the point!
@kevin how do we know it won’t suck our data and and sell to the highest bidder?
@kevin What tier Claude Code did you subscribe to for your vibe-a-thon hack fest?
