@WeirdWriter great post. And totally agree. Such a well of great reading in there.
Yep! Thank you! It's also why I read Fanfiction because, to be quite frank also, there's no reason to flood the space with AI SLOP also because there's no transaction. Are their AI stories? Of course, but I rarely find them, because it rarely gets to be popular, and there's no algorithm pushing optimized garbage at me. By the way, just in case you haven't read, yet, if you wanted an intro to the blog, https://sightlessscribbles.com/ss-about/ @auxonic
@WeirdWriter exactly! Ive been a follower of the blog for a while now. Great work.
@WeirdWriter I grew up reading fanfiction (mostly on fanfiction.net, before AO3 was the place)
I read a whole lot of faff, and a whole lot of stuff I'd cringe at today -- but also a whole lot of stories (or characters, or _moments_) that've stuck with me half my life later.
You're so right that it offers a place for us to play in a shared sandbox, without thinking (most of the time) about brand or polish.
Thanks for sharing :)
@ragman Same! I read some Fanfiction that stuck with me profoundly but is there a royal road but for Romance?
@WeirdWriter Not that I know of!
Though, I haven't read much romance until recently, so could be out of the loop.
Closest might be text based games on itch.io but that's not really the same thing...
@WeirdWriter I think show don't tell is a pretty important rule. Works that break it feel clunky.
