there's no better decentralized social ecosystem to match it
as if
- bluesky was properly decentralized
- the only model for social ecosystems is to clone twitter

blacksky only recently was able to launch their own infrastructure to match or somewhat keep up with the weight of the entire atmosphere, it is decentralized in theory but in practice it is very hard to properly scale. not saying that the protocol is evil or that it was engineered with bad intention, but we must put budgets into consideration and just the sheer size of the data to be transmitted and handled.
that's not even mentioning that around 90%+ of bluesky users are in the exact same PDS, with most public PDS being single-user only, and the overall Bluesky public not even being aware of the underlying technology, or how important it is to keep stuff decentralized. (though that's more of a social problem, and fedi users are annoying about it)
I do have hope though, the Blacksky people really are doing their best and ATProto has a ton of potential, but I wouldn't call the Atmosphere (not atproto, the athmosphere, semantics are important) properly decentralized just yet.
(also feditips fucking sucks, alexia and i have been considering launching an alternative)
