Just read @evanprodromou@socialwebfoundation.org write up on the #Forkiverse and listened to the the Search Engine episode about them shutting it down.
socialwebfoundation.org/2026...
This just shows we have more work to do. People tried it, found it wanting, and we come away understanding a bit more of what we need to do.
It is disappointing, but we're one step closer now.
@ozoned I won't share this, I'm sorry. It's a trap for blind users/creators who could help you. "please prove that you are human", the quiz is visual. Means that a blind isn't human. I didn't expect such a shit from you
@elettrona@poliversity.it I've disabled the CAPTCHA. let me know if that works for you. Very sorry about that Elena!
Know any content creators with a premium membership platform or any kind of community platform that'd be interested in taking a survey?
This data will be useful in helping Fediverse developers pinpoint tools and features they're currently missing.
Please feel free to fill out yourself and share with other creators! Thank you!
@ozoned Heck yeah! This is all great stuff. I'll be getting set up on bandwagon for sure.
I love that theindiebeat.fm pulls from it. Great way to discover what's out there.
Thank you sir!
@BrianWintersMusic@mastodon.social Absolutely! 😊 Happy to help.
Is there a #fediverse alternative to SoundCloud?
@BrianWintersMusic@mastodon.social I'm not fully familiar with SoundCloud. There's bandwagon.fm for storing you music and having it be on the open social web. If you're looking for unique music that's also great. Then there's also theindiebeat.fm that pulls from there and has different channels.
There's also FunkWhale which is like a music player and can house and share your music as well.
Hey @ozoned, once I get the new Pixelfed webUI and mobile app shipped, we should plan a "Works on my machine Live!"
Had a blast with you at FediCon, and can't wait for our next interview!
@dansup@mastodon.social absolutely! Ping me whenever you're ready! 😄
"A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for." -- John Shedd, Salt from My Attic (1928).
My good friend @ozoned shared this quote with me. It's my reminder to not hold my work too tightly, but to be brave and put it out there.
It's terrifying. Always. But we can't stay in port anymore.
Now, more then ever, the world needs YOU out on the seas. I'll see you there.
Good day all! Upcoming episode of Fireside Fedi! Hosted by @chris@fedi.freebooters.uk !

Anyone working on a #Fedi #Rolodex ? #fediverse #foss
@andypiper@macaw.social Brest of luck with the conference!
@ozoned Re PeerTube, definitely the most frequent thing I’m asked about! I’d also like to do that, but it’s a cost and resource issue for the Foundation to get that set up and managed. We do run our own Mastodon, and the main matrix.org homeserver, but no resource to add PeerTube or Owncast at the moment. I continue to have it in mind!
@andypiper@macaw.socialI have tubefree.org if y'all would ever like to put it up on there. First 50GB free! 😁 I can't imagine the videos are all that large.
As @BjornW@mastodon.social mentioned, I wonder if talking with @Framasoft@framapiaf.org could allow some kind of discussion?
@andypiper@macaw.social does Matrix Live happen #live ? If so, where can one watch it live? If not, where can one petition them to do it live? Maybe talk with chat while discussing Matrix?
@andypiper@macaw.social and also, is it on Peertube at all? If not, can it be pretty please? 😁 If Matrix ran their own peertube they could pull directly from YouTube, so no extra work other than initial set up.

quick update to my about page: https://thecreative.spot/about-the-creative-spot/ ~ thanks again, @ozoned ~ it was really fun (◠‿◠)
@tmw The frustrating part is that we have the technology to make this happen, too. The Fediverse doesn't really deliver on the promise of open networks and freedom if all your stuff is hostage to the Lords of Servertown.
LOLA Data Portability (https://swicg.github.io/activitypub-data-portability/lola ) is hurtling towards recommendation status, and as a spec it's very doable. (I did: https://emissary.dev/migration)
It's going to take some time for all of the apps to get it built, but it IS coming :)
Good day all! Upcoming episode of Fireside Fedi!
