The #Senate passed a bipartisan spending package to fund most of the government & keep the #DHS running for 2 weeks while #Democrats & #Trump negotiate restrictions on the admin’s #immigration crackdown. The agreement is the culmination of an intense round of haggling between White House officials & members of #Congress. It did not come together in time to avert a brief lapse in federal #funding over the weekend, starting on Saturday morning.

24 #Democrats & 5 #Republicans voted to oppose the #legislation. “I’ve made my position clear: not another dime for Trump’s lawless #ICE operations means not another dime, not even for one more day,” said Senator Chris Van Hollen, Democrat of Maryland. “That’s why I voted against the #funding bill before the #Senate today.”
