The "thou shalt keep the sabbath holy" people had that right actually.
Rest should not be tied to the individual 'earning', 'deserving' or 'being able to afford' rest.
I much prefer "it makes god mad if anyone works on rest day", it's just a better rule.
Do I believe working on a Sunday makes god mad? Of course not. But then I also don't believe a rectangle of thin shiny plastic is worth an hour of my labour or that a red light up circle physically stops oncoming traffic. Society is a shared fantasy that requires buy-in.

That’s why it works. Anyone who drives on roads knows this. Many other examples. If risk was better understood, population level immunisation could be another good example. 😐
