I have opentrack running in proton. It sees my camera and starts tracking fine but I can’t get games to see it. I’m using the same proton prefix running #opentrack with protontricks-launch
I don’t know the right incantation to do it all at the same time with steamtinkerlaunch
This has to be one of the most fidgety things I’ve had to do on #linuxgaming in years. I’ve gotten used to things just working.
@amd were the required naturalsoft registry entries added? They won't be visible to the game until next launch.
Does the track .EXE process show up after launch? If not opentrack failed to invoke wine/proton.
be aware that the location of opentrack matters. Steam OR snap OR flatpak may not allow access to the wine plugin of opentrack. A path under /opt should be a good start. That's usually allowed. YMMV.
@bekopharm I’m not running Linux native opentrack with wine plugin. I had trouble getting that to compile in toolbx.
Windows opentrack runs in proton and I get the UI and I can see camera output and tracking so it seems to be running correctly.
Not sure about the registry entries. I’ve tried starting opentrack both before game launch and after game launch with zero difference in results.
@amd huh. no idea about the exe. Last time I tried this it worked. Both should write the registry entries thou because without Windows games won't know where to look for the expected dll.
What compile trouble?
@bekopharm the errors were a little cryptic but seemed like some c++ stdlib issues (I am bad with c++). I might try spinning up a Debian container and see if it compiles better there instead of fedora.

A more recent installation needs qt6 instead of qt5 but the rest is still the same.
@bekopharm I just checked my browser history and this was one of the pages that I was reading last night when trying to get things working.
