@timrichards You might like this - @ewen recently (last year?) photographed penguins on Macquarie Island in the Sub-Antarctic, and shared a lot here on masto. This is lovely, and the the couple that he mentions he met there might just have included the author of that book. (UPDATE - no, they were different people seeking every penguin species)
