“Good evening, salam alaikum, how wonderful,” Guardiola said as he addressed the audience.

“We stand with the oppressed. Today we stand with Palestine, but not only with Palestine we stand with all just causes. This is a stance for Palestine and for humanity. Just as when Barcelona was bombed in 1938, just as today in London and Paris, we stand before the world and clearly show that we are on the side of the weakest. I saw a child filming himself among the rubble, begging ‘Where is my mother?’ and he still doesn’t know what has happened. And I think, what must children be thinking? I believe we have left them alone, abandoned them. I keep imagining them saying, ‘Where are you? Come and help us.’ And up to now, even now, we have not done that we have left them alone,” he added.

“And even now, we haven’t done it. Perhaps because those in power are cowards, because they basically send innocent young people to kill innocent people,” Manchester City manager declared.

"Remembering the memory of what has happened, not only during these past two or three years, but for decades of oppression, of lack of freedom, of taking away what every people has the right to—to simply be what they want to be. We have to take a step forward, and just the fact of being here is already a lot," he stressed.

Guardiola urged the international community to take what he described as a “step forward", framing his remarks as “a statement for Palestine and… a statement for humanity.”

His comments come amid continued Israeli aggression despite a declared ceasefire since October. According to Gaza’s health ministry, more than 400 Palestinians have been killed since the truce took effect.

It is worth noting that Israeli media, citing senior military officials, has lately reported that "Israel’s" military now acknowledges around 70,000 Palestinians have been killed during the war on Gaza.
