Similar thing applies to other aspects of the "teenage" experience, like truth or dare etc...
I think that the desires were important to us during a critical time of mental development, so it's natural that a bit persists. And I think those fantasies to some extent aren't "I want to fuck a schoolgirl" but "what if back then I'd fucked a schoolgirl".
And I think indulging in this in a fictional context with a consenting partner is fine.

I would further say that I think that this is a bigger contributor to the popularity of anime/manga with fanservice of adolescent characters than pedophilia is.
