It is Wednesday my verse. This year on a Wednesday I will be choosing a track/ep/album from my catalogue to highlight for reasons such as it kind of slaps [imho] or maybe it's kind of hidden, or perhaps some fun/quirky/meaningful behind the music.

dj mindstalker - "in control" 1998/99

This one falls firmly in the category of some of my favourite tracks that not many have heard. A couple tracks from this came close to being in a sizeable indie movie but the production folded.

I had up until this time refused to track and record on computers because mainly costs and I was just so engrained in hardward sequencing, samplers for audio cutting, and analogue or borrowing digital multitrack tape. This was one of my first forays into computer for basic tracking, recording, audio editing, mixing by still bringing in the external sound sources. I can't imagine the plug-in bloat of today on a cyrix 686 and whatnot!

It's a weird blend of pretty straight forward instrumental organic and chunkily presented techno, house, and drum and bass. It's quite dark and came from a very dark place yet also weirdly uplifting. I did some live sets with swap, extend and remix on the fly based on the crowd for this project in the old hardware sequencer and sampler model and it was really quite fun.

Finding beauty in the darkness in more important than ever these days. I am interested in a few starts I've made for new tracks to bring the dj mindstalker moniker back.

See also "orb 3" and frankly the whole album. It's old and not shattering any musical boundaries, but the vibe remains.

Keep fighting. Stay vertical. Stomp in Solidarity. Let's go down dancing. Or manually coding poison for the oligarchs. Or just having a brief moment of contentedness in spite of the bastards.

My catalogue is always donate what you can if you can.

You can help me make even more noise. I am available for donate what you can remixes, game assets, loops, beats, soundtrack. Let's do all the things.
