Random tech bit of the evening:

I had stumbled across an esphome/433mhz bridge temple, so I'm replacing OpenMQTT gateway with it, since the later had some annoying issues getting stuck after.... actually idk the cause but this also lets me take something off of mqtt, and also means I don't need MQTT outside of the cluster.

Heck, now the only thing using MQTT is frigate. If they ever added a native Homeassistant API I could also drop MQTT.

I could consider dropping 433mhz entirely and switch all of the temp sensors to zigbee or wifi but right now this means I don't need to buy anything new, which is also a worthwhile goal.

Long term tho the plan is to drop as many unique coms protocols as possible. ZWave and 433Mhz are the two most easily dropped, followed maybe by Bluetooth. Ok probably not Bluetooth that has a few unique features that are worthwhile (BTLE trackers in bags/etc)

@rachel
Thanks. Your past adventures confirmed I don't need Ceph, and now you confirmed I don't need MQTT. 馃槃
