It's maybe a little early since the bills for servers, media storage and emails come around the 20th but since I just moved it was an very expensive month..

If you can and want, please think about donating to our services fediverse

Thank you SO much ❤️ blobsnuggle

It’s absurd that instance owners have to beg for support like it’s a favor.

If you rely on a service, do the grown-up thing and help pay for it.

Servers, storage, moderation, and uptime aren’t powered by vibes.

Even $5 / €5 helps.

Check your server’s About page. If you can afford a coffee, you can afford to contribute.

Parting shot: if Mastodon really cared about growing the ecosystem, funding tools would already be built in for #Mastoadmin use. Looking at you, @Gargron 👀

@jeff @Gargron Something build-in would be VERY welcome indeed

Currently it's spread on so many platforms since recieving money from world wide is still SO hard in 2026.. :(

I have no idea what would be the best option though..

Another thing I REALLY want is proxy support for remote media instead of saving everything..

Pleroma/Akkoma/etcdoes so it so why can't Masto? I understand its not optimal but it does save a ton in media storage costs since we always need to store it for 90 day min

@stux @jeff @Gargron Yeah, I would appreciate something built-in as well, be it Paypal, Stripe, Patreon, Wero, SEPA, whatever… something that makes it easy to operate an instance for a monthly fee, maybe with a free trial of n months.
I think that would help many admins and would secure the fediverse as a whole…

@ij @stux @jeff @Gargron I would be happy with some visible places in the app and web app that allows linking any website, where you can give support.

We use the OpenSource and selfhosted Beabee.io under https://abo.bonn.digital/join (Stripe/GoCardless in the backend) and have a landing page for support.

Beabee could also be embedded as a frame.

@jeff @Gargron And yes there are plenty other media storage providers out there

But we are currently at the 3rd in the past 6 years and I really dont wanna move it again if it's not necessary

Wasabi is reasonable cheap but like i said, we need to pay for at least 3 months for each file stored so it eats hard if federated media weighs in
