GOG did an AMA and here's some highlights - like how they'll continue using generative AI

With GOG under new ownership, they're trying some new things (like generative AI) and they just did an AMA (Ask me anything) on Reddit.

@gamingonlinux I despise genAI and their answer is so vague it could mean anything, everything, or nothing.

I'm more disappointed right now that they still seem under enthusiastic about Linux gaming. This has been a giant limitation where they've let Valve steal market share ever since Proton and Steam Deck. It's why I switched from using GOG Galaxy as my primary gaming interface back to Steam. I've even repurchased games I originally bought on GOG on Steam because it's so much easier to play them on my Steam Deck and Linux laptop that way.

They're hiring a guy for Linux gaming. Okay. That should have been five years ago, ten years ago.

@gamingonlinux hot take but honestly it's easy to be upset about AI usage when basically every company uses it to some level without disclosing it. At least they are honest about it. Also doesn't really specify how they're using it; could just be code reviews or whatever which I hardly consider problematic in any way.

Throwing the entire company and all the good things they do under the bus for this seems like a stupid way to throw the baby out with the bath water. I wish people would nuance it

@gamingonlinux I appreciate how forthright they're speaking. A lot of specific details when they're able to release them. Cautiously optimistic.

@gamingonlinux People "who get it?" That's a red flag.
