As per my last post, this is what my home screen looked like and I couldn't do anything except swipe down and open settings to open apps

on a different note, for the past few days my notication screen in #Tusky is acting up. If I scroll down, it's fine. If I scroll up, it gets jittery and confused and jumps all over the place....

@MikeImBack I'd at least start with a factory reset, unless you've done that. If you get back in, wait on just about everything you want to do until any major updates have happened. Then, for the changes you want to make, only do one or two at a time, restarting in between, to try to see what's causing this.

I'm an amateur, though; your mileage may vary.

@ZenHeathen I still can't get mastodon's "Lists" to work if you know anything about that?

@MikeImBack At one time, I set up a list because my regular feed was too busy--I couldn't keep up with it, but I didn't want to start dropping people. So my list was "closest"--the accounts who's posts mattered the most to me, about half my list. The intention was that on days when I couldn't keep up, I'd use that list and have less to go through my not miss anything from the people I most wanted to see, and when I had more time, I'd use the main feed.

Then I pretty much never used it. After a while, I realized that I'd dropped some accounts that were still listed in my "closest" but wouldn't appear there either anymore because I'd unfollowed, and I ended up just deleting the list.

So no: I know little and can help even less.

@ZenHeathen I tried doing kind of the opposite...I added all the news accounts I follow to a "news" list and was gonna keep all people accounts on my main feed, but I couldn't get the news accounts off my main feed...there is an option for just that but it doesn't do anything

@MikeImBack Maybe make multiple lists. If your total consists of A+B, and you want to be able to see each separately, and you can make a List of B but can't successfully get B out of the main feed, then perhaps make a List of B, and a List of A, and rarely even visit the main feed anymore?

@ZenHeathen I was thinking that...I deleted the list and am gonna give it another try, but I might have to go that way instead

@ZenHeathen I kept trying different things but nothing worked until I did "reset all settings" and that basically factory reset my phone, but kept all the apps I had downloaded (while reinstalling all the bloatware). I had trouble getting the new apps back onto my homes screen, and long story short there was another hiccup but things seem okay now...I'm just going through and changing all the settings again. It just doesn't help the anxiety when things can go so horribly wrong so easily!

@MikeImBack Setting up a phone can be very anxiety-inducing, and very frustrating. It seems like it should be simpler than that, an experience that phone makers would be competing with each other to make as smooth as possible.

@ZenHeathen you'd think so...remember when companies actually tried to win over their customers? Before we all turned into mindless zombies chasing fake-sale after fake-sale??
