I could really use a Linux Native alternative to FilterFreak and the Arturia Filters. Filter-preset-scrollng is my number one "I'm stuck in a production" method, and it always works. And while I have both FilterFreak and the Arturia plugins running, and FilterFreak is running super stable - I could use Linux Native alternatives (or guides to browse filter-presets in Bitwig).

Any good suggestions?

@davecarter thanks, great selection! Do you have experience with some of these?

@mosgaard the kazrog filter is in my kit at the moment. It just does the one thing really but it's a good thing.

The tal I have used previously, it sounds good and does a lot of tricks filter freak (and pan man and tremolator) can do. I already had the sound toys and artyria stuff and they work fine but if I didn't it would be a good option.

I have a few audio thing plugins including lines - which is huge fun and makes it's way into most mixes in some shape or form. I like their Things series. Crusher has some crossover with filter freak - bubbles gets the most use. Dials sounds great and is maybe a more direct replacement, but I don't need a direct replacement.

Filterstation is the straightest dropin replacement for filterfreak (in terms of the types of things it can do / versatility / the way I think about what and how the processing is doing), is newer code and honestly probably 'better' in most regards. But when AD didn't used to make plugins that worked directly in protools and by the time they did I already had soundtoys stuff.

@davecarter thanks for the great walk through! I have both the Kazrog, Tal and Audio Thing stuff already, so it seems like I'm of demoing Filterstation. I normally use the Soundtoys and Arturia filters for inspiration, and to find out what a source could sound like - with a filter other made. SO Filterstation could be a good option for that, perhaps also the AD043. I have never used Audio Damage, so I should give them a chance too.

Thanks!

@mosgaard audio damage is really good stuff - if I was starting from scratch I probably wouldn't buy into sound toys again. Or even Arturia. They're fun but there are a lot of other options for those type of tools these days.

I had to use decapitator on something the other week (mixing in someone else's space) and was.reminded why I don't reach for it much anymore.

@davecarter I have been really happy with both vendors, but have used Arturia the most - but it was because I bought the collection first, and then when I bought Soundtoys, I found out, Arturias collection was very much the same kind of plugins as Soundtoys. So no need to have both.

What I like about both collections, has been the many different things I could use them for. That’s why I mention filters, you find collections with that kind of tools with Native Linux, it’s split up.

@mosgaard
Not the same and no presets, but there are the LSP filter series and the surge-xt filters in surgext-fx. My personal approach would be to use Cardinal-fx with the wide selection of filters.

@MyLoFy turns out, both Surge and Cardinal was in the CachyOS repo, couldn't be easier.

Thanks a ton! I have seen them mentioned before, but never taken the step.
