Genocide apologists in the Australian government want you to believe his visit is purely to support the local Jewish community after Bondi.
The idea the President of a foreign nation credibly accused of genocide, mass murder and ethnic cleansing is necessary for the communal healing of a local, religious minority is problematic enough.
But he is not travelling alone. This visit is merely an expression of Australian State solidarity with Israel's expansionist project, and is rightly protested.

An excellent summary by the ABC (I don't get to say that very often) reminding us the politicization of the Bondi attack continues with this #Herzog visit.
Assessments the incident was a politically motivated attack on Israel (is, not purely antisemitic) are being confirmed as the Australian govt elects to deprioritise Jewish safety in favour of expressing State solidarity with Israel.
It makes the obvious case one of the greatest risks to Jewish safety is their assumed association (per Zionist doctrine) with the rogue State of Israel, and hence vicariously responsible for its conduct.
This is clearly as wrong as it is dangerous, and is another reminder that in the calculations of the Albo govt Jewish and community safety comes second to solidarity with the extremists in Israel.
