YouTube videos are now far less than a 1/4 of the screen. Even with an ad blocker, there's an ad beside the video that's almost as big

@MikeImBack oh, I hate that. There's something really despair-inducing about taking a thing that used to work and "improving" it until it doesn't.
If you're seeking fixes:
I was just talking about a similar thing, turning off the right hand column has been great for my focus and mental health.

Do you use uBlock Origin? it takes out all of YouTube's ads for me.
@ProcessParsnip I do, the "ad" in question doesn't qualify though as it's youtube pushing me to buy a season of Beavis and butthead from them. I also have another ext with a bunch of options, but the only 1 I use is volume boost (can't hear a damn thing on youtube these days)
I'm curious about the other ext you're talking about...I don't want to hide the recommended videos as I need them for some hobby work that I do, but I'd love something that let's me adjust sizes...
@MikeImBack ahhh, yeah I just wanted the recommended right column gone. Their recommendations for me are garbage which makes me feel smug in my cookie management.
I haven't seen one for re-sizing the right column, but I didn't really look for that. The nice thing about still using their dreadful platform is that a lot of people are making extensions, I hope you're able to find a fix.
@ProcessParsnip oh ya I definitely agree their recommendations are shit 😆 It's a long story but the type of short clips I'm looking for I've learned how to use the recommendations basically as shortcuts while I do my treasure hunting. If it weren't for that, I'd be all over removing the whole thing. I used #FBPurity for years before finally giving up on Facebook, and that let's you remove up to 99% of Facebook if you wanted
@MikeImBack Is there like no full screen button on the video itself?
@PatrickoftheG there is, you can still do that, but it's the creeping that concerns me...we don't have a viable alternative to YouTube
@MikeImBack Until it stars creeping over that, I don't think I am worried quite so much. Although I am sure they're going to find some way to enshifftify fullscreen before too long.
@MikeImBack There's a "theatre mode" selector inside the video window at the bottom right that makes the video most of the screen width, and it'll stay on from video to video until you turn it off. But on mine, even when I turn it off, the video is still 2/3 of the whole screen width. I've never seen the layout you have here.
@ZenHeathen I'm just old and stubborn and hate change 😄
@MikeImBack Use Duck Duck Go instead.
@dcdeejay oh I just learned about that, and I changed to a new phone recently and went with the duckduckgo browser...I turned on always watch in ddg but then I accidently tapped on an ad and un-installed ddg in disgust 😵💫 can you still use this in firefox?
@MikeImBack Not sure, probably not - I think it is a ddg browser feature, not a ddg website feature
@dcdeejay ya I think so to 🙁
