I think the answer is in his ideology

he believes in privatization and, crucially, foreign investment by US businesses (who lead the world in white faces, immorality and power)

you know how Football is unfair because some clubs have billionaire backers and others run on a shoe string budget? to him that's natural, a stacked deck, and an equal playing field is against nature

he sees the solution to issues with the NHS, BBC, farming, fishing, power and water as a lack of US venture capitalists pumping money in

its exactly the same stuff my previous MP would say to me on the doorstep. that public ownership is crap and investment = progress

and to be fair, government websites do suck, but lack of competition does not mean the need for corporations and an ownership class

I say all this to say

if you want America to be your sugar daddy - you've gotta prostrate yourself
