@Talia Agreed! I think a better descriptor would be the "*veneer* of excellence", which highlights an *existing* problem with grant (or article) peer review. So-called " #AI" only makes this worse.

I don't know what happens when others review papers, but I have not yet seen something produced by AI that made any sense. If you go beyond skimming and actually try to get some meaning out of what's written, that veneer falls away quickly

@nacly it also waste reviewers time, make the evaluation system more expensive and therefore leave less money for the research...
