Winter sunrise in the boreal forest often lasts longer than people expect.

The sun stays low, scattering orange and red light through the atmosphere while the snow reflects cool blue shadow.

Vertical winter landscape of a snow-covered spruce forest at sunrise in Interior Alaska. A tall central spruce tree stands in the foreground, its branches heavily coated with thick white snow. The surrounding forest is filled with similarly snow-laden trees, forming a dense boreal landscape.

The sky behind the trees transitions from deep blue at the top to soft orange and pink near the horizon, illuminated by the rising sun. Near the upper right portion of the sky, a dark silhouette of a raven is captured mid-flight, wings outstretched against the colorful dawn backdrop. The snow-covered ground below appears uneven and textured with low shrubs partially buried beneath the snow.
